Recurring memberships & dues

Membership dues that collect themselves — online or at a table

Booster clubs, PTAs, and community nonprofits use HometownLift to run real membership programs with tiered benefits, automatic renewals, and an in-person enrollment booth that takes Tap to Pay at game nights and events.

The challenge

What makes this fundraising harder than it should be

Annual dues collection is a year-long chase

Every September your treasurer pulls up last year's roster and starts emailing parents about renewing. Six months later, half the members still haven't paid and nobody knows who actually owes what.

Venmo and personal checks aren't a membership program

When 'membership' means people send a Venmo to the treasurer's personal account, you have no record of tier benefits, no auto-renewal, no compliance trail, and no way to onboard a new treasurer without losing half the data.

In-person sign-ups die in a paper clipboard

At the back-to-school night or season-opener game, a parent says 'sign me up.' The volunteer at the table writes their name on a sheet that gets lost on the drive home. That member never gets enrolled.

Different tiers mean different benefits, and nobody tracks them

Bronze, silver, gold tiers. Different access levels. Different perks at the snack bar. Without a system, the volunteers running the gate don't know who has what — so the benefits stop meaning anything.

The HometownLift approach

A real membership program, with the same dashboard as your fundraising

Tiered membership plans with benefits

Set up monthly or annual tiers with their own price, billing cadence, and benefit list. Members sign up online or in person, get a confirmation email with their tier benefits, and renew automatically through Stripe.

Tap-to-Pay Membership Booth for events

Print a QR code, hand a volunteer a phone or WisePOS E reader, and you have a Membership Booth. Parents tap their card at the back-to-school night and walk away enrolled with a receipt — no paper, no clipboard, no lost sign-up sheets.

Automatic Stripe renewals

Memberships renew on their own schedule via Stripe subscription. Failed cards trigger automatic retry and dunning email; expiring cards get an update prompt. Your treasurer doesn't chase renewals — the platform does.

Member roster with status, tier, and history

One dashboard shows every active, pending, and lapsed member. Filter by tier, sort by renewal date, export to CSV for board meetings. New treasurers can see everything that came before them.

Lapsed-member outreach, automated

When a member's renewal fails or expires, HometownLift can trigger a re-engagement email so they don't quietly slip off the roster. Your active member count actually means something.

Built into the same platform as fundraising

Membership dues, donation campaigns, sponsor programs, and event tickets all live under one login. Members who also donate are linked in the donor CRM. No double-entry. No reconciling.

FAQ

Common questions

What's the Membership Booth and how does it work?

The Membership Booth is a public-facing enrollment page tied to your org. Print a QR code from the admin dashboard, set it up at a table at game night or back-to-school night, and parents enroll on the spot. Volunteers can run it from a phone or a Stripe WisePOS E reader for Tap to Pay card transactions. New members get an instant receipt and welcome email.

Can we offer different benefits at different tiers?

Yes. Each tier has its own benefit list, price, and billing interval (monthly or annual). Members see their tier benefits in their confirmation email, and your gate volunteers can verify membership status at events using a member lookup.

What happens when a member's card expires?

Stripe handles card-expiration prompts and dunning automatically. The member gets an email with a one-click link to update their card. If they don't update, the membership lapses and shows up in your lapsed-member view for follow-up.

How does this compare to a generic membership tool like Wild Apricot or Patreon?

HometownLift memberships are built into the same dashboard as your fundraising, sponsorships, ticketing, raffles, concessions, and store. You don't pay a separate subscription, you don't reconcile across tools, and your treasurer sees one P&L instead of four.
